MTC Week 1!

Hey Mom!
What an incredible and challenging week. I have grown so close to my Savior this week. I had to rely on His love and strengthen when the days were long and hard. They have been very challenging for me and often times I felt too overwhelmed. I am working hard to stay focused on my purpose. That has helped me endure the many trials of being a missionary. Each day has made the work easier and easier. Thank you for your love and support as I start this new journey. I am so grateful for the letters, dearelders, and emails. Please keep them coming. I am especially thankful for your prayers. I pray for our family each day.

I am on my Week 2 here. I have taught 3 letters in complete Russian. The language is stressful, but when we teach with the Spirit; it is well worth it. I don't have much time to write, but I want you to know that I am grateful for Jesus Christ and his atoning sacrifice. Thank you for being the best support I can ask for.

I will send pictures later.
I love you!

Let the Journey Begin!

Well Virginia! After 4 1/2 months of preparing for my mission, the day has finally arrived for me to report to the Mission Training Center (MTC) in Provo, Utah where I will begin my journey as I study Russian and learn how to teach the people of Russia! As I enter the MTC, I am filled with mix emotions. I am sad to say goodbye to my family and friends, but I am excited to become a Representative of our Savior, Jesus Christ as I serve and teach the people of Russia. I know that as I serve them, I will begin to see and love them the way Christ loves and sees us. I know my mission will be difficult, but with the strength of the Savior, I can defeat any obstacle. With the Lord on my side, I will be able to share with those who are willing to listen about Christ's restored gospel. I am excited to witness to the people of Russia that Jesus Christ lives, that he loves us, and that through him we can become perfected.
My hope is that as I share my journey with you, your testimonies will be strengthened and your hearts will be filled with joy because of your faith in our Savior. I am thankful for my journey ahead of me. I look forward to growing closer to my Heavenly Father and my Brother, Jesus Christ. I will see you in 18 months.

Much love,
Sister Devynn McCartt
